BRONZE GROUP - This group is composed of 6 to 11 year old novice swimmers in their first or second year of competitive swimming. Emphasis is on developing the fundamentals of the four competitive strokes by means of drills and games that create an enjoyable yet challenging atmosphere for instruction. Four practices per week are offered. SILVER 2 GROUP - This group is composed of 8 & younger and 9 - 12 year old swimmers who are experienced in a competitive program but still need primary stroke instruction. Emphasis on learning how to train begins after stroke techniques have been developed. Four practices per week are offered. SILVER 1 GROUP- The Silver 1 group has swimmers who are 9 to 12 year olds. Swimmers in the Silver 1 group will do practices that are tailored to their continued growth and skill development needs. Our goal is for swimmers to achieve the majority of their “A” times while in this group. This group will have the majority of our 9 and 10 year olds who are at least at the “BB” level up to “Top 16” ranked in the country. Four practices per week are offered. VARSITY GROUP – The Varsity Group is made up of 13 to 18 year old swimmers who have many different goals. Swimmers in this group can participate in many ways: 1) get early jump on the high school season by starting in September and practicing until the High School season starts. 2) Swimmers can practice during the High School Season (mid November to Mid February) to improve faster than their High School teammates. 3) Swimmers can be members only during the Short Course Winter Season or the Long Course Spring/Summer Season. 4) Swimmers can participate year round. Swimmers in the Seahawk Varsity Group will do a modified Gold group practice that is geared towards the swimmer making great progress in stroke technique development and physical training to be stronger and reach a higher fitness level. This group is great for the swimmer who has many activities, a large amount of homework and who need schedule flexibility for their training. This group will help those who need to develop a training background before making the move to the SEVA Gold Group. Five or six practices per week are offered. GOLD GROUP - This group is composed of swimmers aged 11 to 16 who have the dedication to train for the top levels in Virginia and National age group swimming, which includes “AA”, “AAA”, “AAAA”, Top 16 National rankings, and Zone Championship teams. Careful attention is still devoted to stroke technique, but training and preparing the swimmer for Zone and Senior competition is the primary goal. Five or six practices per week are offered, depending on age and training experience. Dry-land exercises begin at this level. SENIOR GROUP - This group is composed of swimmers aged 13 to 18 who are increasing their training to reach the state and regional competition in the near future. A transition takes place at this level where swimmers are no longer trained as age groupers (training cycles occur on a monthly basis) but are now trained as senior swimmers (one training cycle per season). The swimmers in this group are usually at the “AA” and “AAA” level. Time is devoted to continually fine-tuning stroke technique, but training and preparing the swimmer for Zone and Senior competition is the primary goal. Six to eight practices are offered per week. Dry-land training is expanded and weight-training sessions are added. NATIONAL GROUP - This group constitutes the highest level within the SEVA team structure. Swimmers must be motivated and dedicated to train and compete successfully at the Zone, Regional and National Championships and International level. Nine practices per week are offered. Two practices are mandatory on certain days. Weight/dry land training is continued three or four days per week.
