Swim America Learn-To-Swim Program

 

 

     The Swim America Learn To Swim program is designed to teach swimming skills using a ten (10)- station system of learning. The program is goal oriented and skill driven, allowing each individual to progress at their own pace and advance through the stations at any time. Three reasons why parents have their children participate in a learn-to-swim program and why Swim America has been so successful are:

 

     1.  Safety - children develop strong swimming skills that improve their confidence in aquatic activities. This is extremely important in an area where water almost surrounds us.

     2.  Fitness and Health – gives families and children additional options for activities that promote fitness and health.
     3.  Opportunity and Fun – becoming a strong swimmer permits participation in a wide variety of recreational and competitive aquatic activities.  Year after year, national surveys show that swimming activities rank amongst the most enjoyable for all age groups of our population.
 

 

The Swim America program provides superior instruction due to the age appropriate skills that are designed into each level.  Instruction is offered by dividing the students into the following class types:

Pre-School Classes    Three (3) to Five (5) Year Olds
School Age Classes    Five (5) Years to Fifteen (15) Years Old
Adult Classes        Sixteen (16) Years Old and Older       

Private and Semi-Private lessons are offered at this time.  We hope to be able to offer group classes in the future.  


Swim America Program Information

Class Location:    Private and Semi-Private Classes are held YEAR ROUND at the Newport News Midtown Aquatic Center.  A small daily admission fee may be charged.  Lessons are also held at the Town of Urbana Pool in June, July & August.

Class Days:        Monday thru Saturdays

Classes Times:    Each class time is individually scheduled to accommodate both the family/student and the instructor’s schedule.


Class Cost:     $15.00 for each 30 minute private class (one student with one instructor).  $25 for each 30 minute semi-private class (two students with one instructor).
