South Eastern Virginia Aquatics (SEVA)
DEVELOPMENTAL SWIM LEAGUE
2010 Fall, 2011 Winter & Spring Sessions
The SEVA Developmental Swim League is designed to offer competitive stroke technique instruction for swimmers age 7 to 14 years old. Five (5) and six (6) year olds that can comfortably swim multiple lengths may be eligible but must be evaluated before registering for this program. Two (2) practices are offered each week. The goals of the SEVA Developmental Swim League are:
1. To offer the best stroke instruction of competive swimming in Eastern Virginia.
2. To offer a program for swimmers to improve their technique, become a stronger swimmer and increase their confidence in their skill level.
3. Improve fitness while improving swimming technique.
4. Provide a developmental environment for short monthly competitions on a Saturday morning.
5. Prepare swimmers for USA Swimming competition.
This program is perfect for the swimmer who would like to continue to swim and develop his/her stroke technique, but for now does not want to participate on the SEVA competitive swim team. SEVA uses the Developmental Swim League to prepare swimmers for th SEVA competitive swim team. Swimmers who are developmentally ready and have the desire to join the SEVA Swim Team are normally placed in the Bronze, Silver 2, Silver 1, or Varsity groups, depending on a combination of stroke technique, development, and age of the swimmer.
