Established in 2000, Southeastern Virginia Aquatics, a member of USA Swimming, is composed of approximately 100 swimmers from Newport News, Hampton, Yorktown and Williamsburg. Swim team athletes range from novice age-group swimmers to senior swimmers competing at a national level. SEVA operates year-round with meets scheduled for both Short Course (25 yard, winter) and Long Course (50 meet, summer) seasons.
SEVA strives to be the best swimming program in the state of Virginia. Team goals include providing a safe healthy activity for young swimmers at all competitive levels. Our program aims to enhance our children's athletic abilities while teaching him/her the value of hard work, self-discipline and sportsmanship.
Practice groups are designed to provide age appropriate training to enable swimmers to realize their full swimming potential in an atmosphere that encourages swimming as a lifetime activity. Workouts for young swimmers emphasize fundamental stroke technique and building an aerobic base. Swimmers advance into groups with increasing training intensity and yardage as is appropriate for the individual's level of accomplishment.
In addition to the regular practice groups, SEVA also offers programs for stroke improvement and swim conditioning. The Seahawk Stroke School is great for swimmers of all ages who want to improve their stroke technique.The Seahawk High School Prep Program is for high school swimmers who want to get an early start on the high school swim season with both stroke improvemt and aerobic conditioning. The Developmental Swim League is designed for the swimmer that wants to improve their stroke technique, but does not want to participate in competitive swimming.
